Meet Our Designers - McKaelyn Guidry

The Creative Journey

The development of X2 was towards the end of high school for McKinley and me. We wanted a name that symbolizes our bond as twins, something that felt immortal and timeless. Luxury fashion is quite subjective in its meaning, to us luxury is something that is well crafted, versatile, and innovatively unique in design.

Design Philosophy

When designing, naturally, inspiration is sparked from peculiar objects, curated spaces when traveling, and my own styling as I am vintage archivist. Obsessing over the past, I find myself nostalgic of fine craftsmanship and times when themes of costume were more prevalent in everyday wardrobe. I am fascinated with the feeling of opulence through novelty fabrics and bespoke wear. Nonetheless while costuming, I love the alter ego that consumes the wearer.

Signature Touch

My way of design is quite different from my twin’s. Typically, I have always designed pieces that are more loose fitting and focused on ornamentation through fabrication. I love layering and modularity, and of course mobility.

Current Inspiration

I am quite habitual in my creative process, I cannot control when inspiration strikes and it constantly emerges when traveling, even when having a fabulous meal, an experience in a beautifully curated space, or vintage collecting.

A Hidden Gem

There are so many places I privately hold close to my heart, but I will share one and leave the rest for the upcoming X2 society post. Passalacqua in Lake Como is a hidden villa turned boutique hotel in Lake Como. It is a historical property that was tastefully renovated and feels as if you were transported in time, a vintage lover's sanctuary.
