Daily Care & Storage

Your X2 NYC X East Village Hats turban is a work of meticulous craftsmanship. To preserve the architectural silhouette and the tactile depth of the ostrich-embossed leather for years to come, please follow these artisanal care instructions.

1. Daily Wear & Handling

  • The Crown Rule: Always handle the turban by the base or the interior ribbon rather than pinching the top.
  • Product Protection: Apply perfumes, hairsprays, and oils before donning your headpiece. Alcohol and synthetic oils can dry out or stain the leather finish over time.
  • Weather Awareness: Leather is natural and porous. If caught in a light New York rain, gently shake off excess water and allow it to air dry naturally away from direct heat sources.

2. Storage (The "Heirloom" Method)

  • The Hat Box: When not in use, store your turban in a box. This protects it from dust and sunlight, which can fade the depth of the exotic print.
  • Internal Support: Stuff the interior with acid-free tissue paper to maintain its rounded shape. Avoid using newspaper, as the ink can transfer to the lining.
  • Breathability: Never store leather in plastic bags. Leather needs to "breathe" to prevent mildew; a cotton dust bag or a pH-neutral box is ideal.

3. Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Surface Dusting: Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe the "valleys" of the ostrich embossing.
  • Spot Cleaning: For minor marks, use a slightly damp cloth with a drop of clear, pH-balanced leather cleaner. Always test a small, hidden area first.
  • Professional Care: For deep cleaning or structural reshaping, we recommend returning to a specialist milliner or a high-end leather professional.

"A piece built for a lifetime requires a moment of care."
